Evan has spent nearly his whole life in Northern Colorado. Loveland from the age of three, four years at CU Boulder, then back up to Fort Collins. He was doing this same work at Sage Benefit Advisors until structural changes there left him unable to give people the care he had been giving them. He committed to Grove the moment he saw who was putting it together.

He expected the job to be salesy and it isn’t. Somebody arrives with a puzzle: their prescriptions, the doctors they want to keep, a surgery they know is coming, what they can afford. The work is finding the arrangement that fits. Word of mouth handed him a specialty: people retiring before 65, sent by their friends and by their financial advisors. For them health insurance is the last piece left before they can stop working. He is learning the Medicare side now so he can carry the same person from an early retirement through 65 and past it.

The enrollment is the easy part. What he counts is everything after it: the wrongly denied claim he can get reversed, the carrier call you would otherwise have spent an afternoon on. He will also tell you to keep COBRA when COBRA is cheaper, take the plan at work when the plan at work is better, and skip a dental policy and pay for your own cleanings. “I never sell someone something that they do not need.”

After you enroll he emails, checks a week later that the carrier billed you, and calls every fall to go back through the whole market and see whether your plan is still the right one. Reach out in between and you hear back inside a day — unless he is up the Poudre with a fly rod, which is most weekends he can manage it. He grew up here and has no plans to leave.
